  • Named after the first Duke of Wellington, one of Wellington's three Maori names is 'Te Upoko-o-te-Ika-a-Maui' meaning The Head of the Fish of Mau and is tied to the Maori legend that says Maui, a demi-god, fished up the North Island from the depths of the ocean.
  • The drive out to Cape Palliser is dramatic - towering cliffs, crashing waves and a picturesque lighthouse at the end. If you're feeling fit climb to the top. If not take a look at the seal colony. Breeding season is mid-November to mid-January so be wary of Mums with pups. They're very protective!
  • The spectacular waterfront showcases more than just a view - you'll find Te Papa, The Museum of New Zealand there.
  • Martinborough & Wairarapa are renowned for their wines and there are day tours available. A great way to see and taste the best Wellington has to offer.
    • Jasons has a wide variety of Wellington hotels available across the region, ranging from luxury five star accommodations for corporate and business travellers to smaller boutique Wellington accommodation providers. Plus you can check availability and book it right here on this site!
