Wellington Ticks All The Boxes

Well, Wellington ticks all the boxes!

Wellington is a fantastic conference destination, combining big city chic with small village charm, and great facilities to boot.

Hugged by a natural amphitheatre of hills and harbour, New Zealand’s political centre is also celebrated as the hub of all things cultural. The city pulses with packed cafés, bars, boutiques, galleries, public art and museums.

Doing business in the city
Wellington doesn’t overlook the details; they’re renowned for friendly locals and impeccable service. Wellingtonians are a proud breed and that pride shines in the services they provide.

Situated in the centre of New Zealand, Wellington is easily and regularly accessed by plane, train, bus, car and ferry. It’s served by major highways, the main trunk railway, inter-island ferries, and regular international and domestic air services. Wellington International Airport is New Zealand’s domestic airline hub and is just a 20 minutes’ drive from the central business district. Taxis, shuttles and the Airport Flyer – a state-of-the-art bus service featuring leather seats and free Wi-Fi – are all on hand to transfer visitors the short ride into the city.

With a city centre just two kilometres in diameter, nothing’s further than 20 minutes away, and that’s walking! Wellington can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 2000 within a short distance of major event venues.

And they make it so easy!
Three words: Wellington. Convention. Bureau. What is it? It’s a collection of local folks offering free insight and helpful advice. In fact, you may find yourself calling them three different words: fairy god mother.

If you’re not familiar with the convention bureau concept, they’re here to help make your life easier. As part of the regional tourism organisation Positively Wellington Tourism, they offer free advice, an impartial ear, promotional materials and people on-the-ground to help turn your ideas into reality.

As well as recommending venues, activities and partner programmes, the Wellington Convention Bureau can provide promotional materials and arrange for letters of support from influential figures for your bid documents. They can also work with the Conventions and Incentives New Zealand Conference Assistance Programme for international event bids. Visit www.conventionsnz.co.nz for more information.

If you want to look before you book, the Wellington Convention Bureau can even arrange site inspections of the facilities that interest you. Contact Bureau@WellingtonNZ.com.

Why you should make the cross-Tasman journey
Wellington is giving $100 rebates to every Australian delegate conferencing in Wellington.
The rebate applies to groups of over 50, conferencing at participating venues, and staying a minimum of three nights with involved accommodation providers. The incentive applies to a range of venues across Wellington, Wairarapa and Marlborough. Check out your options at www.conventionsnz.co.nz.
