We found Snells Beach Motel to be well positioned, good value and immaculately clean. The owner was friendly and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this very nice bright, clean, well laid out motel room. The lady at the reception is very nice....she advised us of some nice local drives we should take to enjoy the area. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the beach, and their is a nice take away deli/shop across the street if you want to relax in your room and have a meal. There is also a good wine/liquor shop a few minutes away. We would certainly stay here again if in this part of NZ.

The motel had all the facilities required. Everything was very clean and well presented. We didn't have time to try the pool but it looked very nice. Spa bath was lovely and refreshing.
Some traffic can be heard on the road side of the motel but it was very light.
Emails were no replied to and when we called to discuss whether we could alter our booking the tone of the woman who answered the phone was very unfriendly and rude. As a result we cancelled our booking.

Great location, very close to heaps of vineyards and delicous foods. The pool is lovely, the chill has been taken off.
We always try to maintain the pool at 28degrees - this was a challenge in the early January weather!
Very disappointed in this motel. We stayed for two nights. The beds were uncomfortable, the TV didn't work properly, the toilet started dripping on the second afternoon (the caretaker just told us to shut the bathroom door so we couldn't hear it) and the fire alarm went off inside the unit at 1am.
Hi Nicole, We were of course alarmed by your comments as it is really the only review out of 45 that is negative and we have tried so hard over the past 10 years to continuously upgrade our motel so as to provide our guests with a total quality package, and your Unit had new furniture, new bedcovers, new drapes, new lights, a completely new bathroom and a total repaint. We are also a little perplexted by your comments, as the TV appears to work well with the new 6 digital Sky Channels plus the free-to-view channels and we cannot locate a toilet drip, but everything will certainly be rechecked.

Clean tidy and everything we needed after a flight from Aussie and slow drive out of Auckland. Found the pub over the road a great place to eat and enjoy a beeer and the karaoke very entertaining!
We had a lovely time on a winter weekend break at the snells beach motel. It's location is superb and the facilities are great. I would rate it 5 out of 5 and I look forward to visiting again in summer.

Booking online was easy & informative. Two bedroom unit was very spacious with all amenities/kitchen facilities etc. Nice and clean. Couldn't work out how to operate the kettle so boiled water in the microwave for tea.
Only negatives, friends left me a message the day before our arrival but it was lost causing a slight hassle. Relief check in staff was not well informed about local tourist attractions despite being from the area herself.
Would stay here again & would recommend to friends.
We had a lovely weekend here, rooms were immaculate and tea, coffee, sugar etc along with towels were refreshed everyday. We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny!

A real wow experience, one we shall seek to revist if we ever return to New Zealand. The room and facilites were just what we needed to relax. A very high standard which was never bettered. The owner was most helpful in every question we asked, and added extra input by way of further recommendations if we had time to spare, which we took up.
We triwed to re-arrange our already altered schedule but could find no good way to stretch to anotheer day.

A really good motel near to shops, beaches and a good pub. More like an apartment than your average motel room. Separate bedroom, kitchen, lounge area and bathroom. Probably the best motel we stayed at in New Zealand. Would stay longer next time to explore the area including Warkworth, Snells Beach and the superb Scotts Landing.
Friendly owners, and the 1 bedroom apartment we stayed in was spacious and clean. They provided a cot and a highchair for our baby. Unfortunately we could stay only for one night, both me and my husband thought we should have stayed longer! Would definately recommend!
Motel has really good facilities, great owners with plenty of local knowledge. The motel is in a good position with shops etc nearby. An excellent base for a tour of the area with has beautiful beaches and plenty to see.
So good we went back for another night when travelling back from further north.
The motel room we had was a great size for a family, lots of room and very clean and tidy. Great location.
I would definitely recommend this property, my family and I had a great overnight stay while visiting the area for the MoreFM winery tour at ascension vineyard.
The two bed apartment was spacious and clean with modern decor, a nice large bathroom (only a shower, no bath but not a problem for one night) and a well stocked kitchen - even milk and tea/coffee/hot chocolate was provided.
My husband, baby and I shared a twin room to give more room for our portacot, and also so that the grandparents got a bit of luxury in the double room on their last night in NZ. The room was near the road so some traffic could be heard overnight, but as it's not on a busy road this wasn't a problem.
Swimming pool was fantastic for cooling off in the morning and just warm enough for my son to go swimming with us.

Very friendly owners. Clean & spacious rooms. Unfortunately, we didn't sleep well at all. The bed was really uncomfortable. It was lower in the middle and we kept rolling into each other. The curtains were also too thin to keep the light out.
If the bed were better, we would happily stay again, but we were just happy to get home and catch up on some sleep.
I am so sorry you were unhappy with the bed. Allthough a subsequent survey revealed a high level of satisfaction, we nevertheless wanted to respond to your comments and have already replaced the bed. We would certainly have been happy to move you to another unit if you had alerted us to your concern during your stay with us. Regarding the window dressing, our Interior Designer promoted the new curtain material as giving 'a romantic feel' to the bedroom, and in conjunction with the venetian blinds would work well together. However as a result of your comments, we will certainly review this. We appreciate your comments and hope we may have the chance to achieve your total satisfaction on a subsequent visit. We really enjoyed our short stay here. The unit was clean, well stocked and spacious.
Great accomodation. Room was a good size, very tidy and clean. Daily room service was superb and also the front desk reception- they really went above and beyond! I would definately reccomend this place - such a Bargain price considering the great location.

Great location, opposite supermarket and "the warehouse" to stock up on travel needs, apartment large and roomy, even for three of us, unforturnately only mircowave and stove top(no oven), but everything else in kitchen provided, very clean and welcoming, Lovely hosts
The owner did take his time to give us the best tips about the scenic stops, without his guiding we would have missed a lot.
The rooms:

+ Spa
+ Comfortable bed and new furniture.
What could be improved:
The kitchen had as many other motels the standard set of micro, water boiler, and a small cooking facilities. The only problem is that since we have stayed in other motels where the owners really take care of the details. Snells beach had some things still to improve. Get rid of all old cutlery and in with new. A new water boiler and take care of the details. Likewise was Internet possible but the code in the manual didn't work and we didn't bother to ask why. The TVs are the old once and the channels are the standard NZ channels. The bathroom did not had a shower curtain and no hook for the towels or clothes. The Spa might be on the cheaper side because it made quite a lot of noise (but it worked).
There is so much that can be done as an extra little touch to the experience and it will not cost a fortune.
Snells beach is a very good motel. A little bit away from the highway with lots of scenic and wonderful beaches in its reach. But I believe they can put a little bit more soul and touch to their already good standard and they will achieve lots of 5 stars from others.
The rating would be a 4 if only it had more personal touch and a better kitchen.
so unbelievably clean. smelled fresh, pillows were a little too high. they supply fresh milk, plunger coffee and the usual tea, coffee, sugar, hot choc. nice view from deck. wish we stayed longer so we could check out the pool/spa/trampoline. nice lil 'hood.
Very pleasant setting, just 3 minutes walk down the road to the beach. Easy access to the local sites in the area and shops. Motel was very well presented, rooms lovely; would have liked extra hand towel as there were 2 of us. Moteliers were wonderful, spent much time expalining the facilities and sites in the area. Definittely recommend this motel. We plan to stay again... after the summer school holidays. Richard and Lesley
The motel was gorgeous. Nice and spaciaous and gorgeous views on both sides. The host was very nice and helpful.
After reading nothing but wonderful reviews about this motel I decided to book 2 nights. I was pleasantly surprised with the facilities in the double spa bath apartment my boyfriend and I stayed in. We have paid alot more in the past and got nothing if the sort! Sky tv in 2 rooms, blowdryer, full kitchen and utensils. I cant leave out how lovely the owners were. I had 2 different quotes for the room and the lady ownder didnt hesitate to offer me the lower price. We felt right at home, thank you. We'll be back!

A larger TV would be an improvement, perhaps a wall mounted flat screen.
Bath plug did not appear to fit properly and leaked so difficult to have a long spa which was part of the speil for selling the unit. Only tried on last night so did not mention to owners.
On the positive side all else was great with good and freindly service and if in the area again we would likely stay there.
Not a bad place to stay. Good value. Room had a wardrobe with shelving which I thought was useful. Has a heated pool which was a little cool and there was no wind protection. Parking was a bit tight and there was a ceramic pot in an awkward place which made turning the corner a bit of a squeeze.
In the morning the cleaning people tried to clean the room before 10am (check out time).
Shower had fantastic pressure and temperature.

best value for money at the time i was looking. spa bath was awesome, rooms large and very friendly people, kitchen had all we needed and bed was so comfotable, easy walk to shops are bar. just had the best time :)
