Things to see and do in Waimarama, Waimarama highlights, Waimarama activities and attractions, and points of interest in Waimarama - the Jasons Waimarama Things to Do Guide is your complete guide to sightseeing in Waimarama.

  • The Beach
Waimarama beach is beautiful and a great swimming spot. The southern end attracts surfers all year round and there are rock pools to play in.
  • Hastings
Hastings is surrounded by the productive horticultural fields and vineyards of the Hawke's Bay countryside. It has many gracious parks and gardens and a number of fine art deco and Spanish mission buildings - a legacy of the rebuilding required after the devastating 1931 Hawke's Bay Earthquake.
  • Cape Kidnappers
One of the world's most accessible mainland gannet colonies. The birds are best seen from November to February (the sanctuary is closed June-October). Tour operators offer a range of options or you can walk the 8km (each way) along the beach from Clifton, when the tide is right.
  • Wineries
The region's popular wine and food festival, Harvest Hawke's Bay, takes place over the first weekend of February, drawing thousands of visitors. Local wineries to visit include Vidal and CJ Pask; Te Awa, Trinity Hill, Ngatarawa Stables and Huthlee at Flaxmere; Clearview and Kim Crawford at Te Awanga; and at Havelock North, Te Mata, Akarangi and Lombardi. A wine trail map is available from the Hastings Information Centre.
  • Napier
This relaxed coastal city is favoured with an attractive waterfront parade, good cafés, fine wineries and unique architecture. Devastated by the 1931 Hawke's Bay Earthquake, Napier was rebuilt largely in the Art Deco and Spanish Mission styles. Today, it's renowned as New Zealand's Art Deco Capital.
