Overview

Tongariro Lodge is located on the banks of the Tongariro River at the south of Lake Taupo in the town of Turangi. It has been featured in international magazines such as The New Yorker, Forbes and New York Times and hosted celebrities such as Jimmy Carter, Liam Neeson and Robert Mitchum.

The lodge is surrounded by 22 acres of park-like grounds with mature gardens and trees surrounding the accommodation. Separate and private, well appointed one bedroom chalets and 3 bedroom executive villas all have sunny terraces with views of the river or mountains beyond. A secluded spa and all-weather tennis court are provided for guests to enjoy. Tongariro Lodge has an excellent reputation of serving the best of food and wine, and the true atmosphere of the lodge is experienced over the evening meal as the stories get taller and taller.

Tongariro Lodge is a world famous fishing lodge with the best resident guides in the country, it is also the ideal holiday destination for outdoor enthusiasts and family adventure alike. Being at the foot of the world heritage Tongariro National Park, the lodge's activities include New Zealand's most popular one day walk - The Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
