Overview

The Coastal Motor Lodge, Thames is a Qualmark 4-star Motel on the Coromandel Peninsula. It offers 11 self-contained units that have private decks with seaviews and are serviced daily. All units are designated non-smoking and with access facilities available.

All units come with kitchenette, ensuite bathroom with shower and/or bath, hair dryer, queen/super-king size beds, phone, Sky TV (Sky 1, Sky Sport 1 and 2, Sky Movies, UK-TV), free WiFi internet, electric blankets, heating, iron/ironing board, outside deck with table and chairs. Breakfast is available on request and delivered to unit and evening meal restaurant delivery service. Barbecue area available.

Tariff: 2 persons $120-$190 and seasonal rates apply. All major credit cards and Eftpos accepted. Coastal Motor Lodge is a member of MANZ and hosted by Colin & Karen Taylor.

Coastal Motor Lodge is located minutes from downtown Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula. It is set in 3 acres of landscaped park-like grounds. It has a bush backdrop with spectacular ocean views and 50m to public boat ramp and sailing club. It is a 1hour 15 minute drive to Auckland International Airport (approx 100km).

Thames is known as the gateway to the Coromandel. Coromandel is home to many offshore islands including Slipper Island, Motukawao and the Alderman Islands.

    Wonderful setting and outlook over the Thames Estuary; lovely sunset views. Units set back from road so road noise not intrusive. A short car trip to the town centre. Very clean and well-serviced daily.

    "Comfy night in a cottage..." This was given a review of 5 stars (Excellent)

    We booked the (non-star rated) cottage for one night through Jasons which was quite a bit cheaper in price than their star rated units. When we arrived the owner quietly reminded me of this and explained that we had booked one of their older units, which cost less, but would be clean and comfortable. This was exactly the case. Very satisfactory; the unit was scrupulously clean, very comfortable (especially the beds), and functional. This was exactly what we wanted for our short stay. We had two cars with ample parking. The owners were polite, friendly and helpful.
