Tauranga

  • In 2011 an oil spill off the coast of Tauranga caused problems, but now the water is clean and clear and everything is back to normal. Swim with the dolphins! Go boating! Surfing! Water Skiing! Diving! Fishing! Swimming. Get out there and enjoy it.
  • Ten minutes out of Tauranga is McLaren Falls Park - over 190 hectares of parkland, which famously includes the McLaren (water)Falls and the Waterfall Track where you can see glow worms after dark.
  • Named after the Mountain and affectionately called The Mount, you can climb to the top if you're feeling fit. It's a 232m climb and will take about 2 hours but the view is totally worth it.
  • The Port of Tauranga is the largest export port in New Zealand and is responsible for exports of delicious Bay of Plenty fruit as well as other materials like timber, paper and dairy.

Jasons has a great range of accommodation available throughout the Bay of Plenty. Take your pick from hotels, motels, serviced apartments, lodges, resorts and business accommodation with conference facilities. You will also find camping & holiday parks, bed and breakfasts and backpackers plus a selection of accommodation close to the airport if it's a fleeting visit.
