  "Camping at DeBretts"

  The staff were absolutely lovely and gave a wonderful first impression of DeBretts. Spaceous campsites and great bbq/kitchen area to use. The facilities were always very clean and tidy. Kids enjoyed the playground and of course swimming at the hot pools.

  "Excellent"

  Clean and well maintained unit. There wasn't a tea towel, but when we went up and asked one was supplied. There was no shower curtain which made showering a little difficult as we didn't want to get the floor wet.

  The staff were very helpful and provided support to book the various activities we wanted to do around and outside Taupo. We really appreciated the cheerful help and suggestions from the staff.

  The discounted use of the hot pools was great and we used the pools at least twice a day.

  Our stay could hardly have been better.

  I have already recommended De Bretts Taupo to our friends and family in NZ and our family outside NZ.

  "Camping ground"

  The grounds were really nice and the place had a nice feel all around. Staff were friendly, although I had to double check that our power cable (hireage) was booked. They made is clear that the usual charge is three times the price they were charging me (3 x $25) even though I was quoted $25 for the whole stay. $25 per day for a power cable seems a little OTT. The camping ground itself was really quiet in the evening - however the bar across the way made up for it - the first two nights weren't too bad, but the Fri night was very loud and we didn't manage to sleep until early morning. The main state highway is very close as well, and this is quite loud also (a lot of large trucks). We're quite used to sleeping with some noise, but this was quite loud. The amenities were great - more than enough stove areas, basins for washing up, BBQs etc and the showers and bathrooms were very clean. Unfortunately we probably wouldn't return because of the noise, which is a shame because the grounds are lovely.

  "*The* best place to stay in Taupo"

  We actually had a fantastic time here. We arrived late, without any complaints from the staff, and had a wonderful sleep on our superlarge King sized bed, in our large super warm room. In the morning we hired their mountain bikes for a day, then we rode down to the lake. We then drove to Spa Park (tho we could have ridden) and then we followed the mountain bike path to Huka Falls and back (which is awesome!). We then returned to our cabin, had a shower, then spent the rest of the day at the wonderful thermal water park, relaxing in pure heaven. There are heaps of people there at night time, but that's a good thing - it makes the place seem more alive. Walked back to our cabin, then slept another gorgeous night's sleep. I like how they didn't complain about anything, always wanting to give more things, rather than taking more money!

  Good tidy motel unit with everything for a short stay. Enjoyed the hot pools and would stay again.

  The place is great for the kids and they loved the pools. The stuff were very friendly. I thought the discounts for the pool entry were great as well. The only problem was the Taupo weather!!!

  "worst experience yet"

  I booked and paid for three nights but only ended up staying one. It was so noisy all night and the lights from the carpark caused my tent to look like it was constant daylight even at 3am. When I, among other people complained to staff it was shrugged off as unimportant. The long weekend started and all the childrens pools were closed or not running and I brought my 3 kids with because of the kids pools. This would have to be my worst camping experience yet....not reccomended

  "Welcoming and Relaxing"

  We were very impressed with the facilities at De Bretts - namely the undercover BBQ and kitchen area, as well as the bathroom block. The staff were friendly and helpful, and value for money was great! We would love to visit again sometime.

  "Fantastic Views, Great Staff and Relaxing Thermal Pools......."

  I didn't want to leave. The friendly staff helped me pick a site that had fantastic views of the snow capped mountains. The facilities are great....laundry, kitchen area, kids playground, etc. The gardens/ hedges are beautifully maintained and give you privacy which you don't often get in a holiday park. We loved the thermal pools and the kids just loved the water side. Definately would recommend to everyone. The restaurant just nearby "Bistro Lago" was probably the best meal we had in New Zealand.

  "Relaxing"

  A beautiful spacious place. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Clean amenities. Cheap admission to the pool/hot pools complex. A relaxing way to end the day, sitting in the hot pools. Restaurant next door. Would definitley stay again.

  "Great reception staff, nice pool, great place for the family to stay!"

  Receptiaon staff were really helpfull and great with my 3 year old.

  Access to the hot pool and the family pass is a great added extra and makes the motel a bit different from the usual. Room a good standard.
