Overview

An authentic Living Maori & Geothermal Village. Welcome to our home where we have lived for over 300 years.
Experience a distinct way of life and learn why our landscape of erupting springs, boiling pools and bubbling mud is a national icon. Daily guided tours are on the hour starting at 9am and last tour at 4pm.
Tour highlights include learning our full name (2nd longest Maori name in NZ); seeing our communal outdoor living area with the largest natural cooking pool in the Southern Hemisphere, understanding the early influence of the missionaries, interacting with our people and learning about our traditions. Visit our local craft stores, explore our walking tracks, enjoy our 30min cultural shows (11.15am & 2pm) and try our geothermal hangi meals (served between 12-2pm) or our yummy Whaka Hangi Pies!
We look forward to your visit and being part of protecting our living treasure (taonga) for future generations to enjoy.
