An action packed adventure through the Gorge!

White Water Sledging is the best way to get up close and personal with the mighty waters of the southern lakes of New Zealand.
Take on the rapids of the historic Kawarau River on our river purpose sledges, designed and built in New Zealand! They are buoyant and manoeuvrable, perfect for running rapids and spinning in whirlpools! The Roaring Meg Half Day Adventure takes you through 6km of one of NZ's best high volume white water. The river has something for everyone: fast flowing rapids, boils, whirlpools and a chill out final section to allow you to enjoy the amazing scenery of the historic Kawarau River.

Haven't had enough? Just when you think it's all over, the guides take you back to the start and you get to run the 6km of white water rapids again!
You will end up a fully-fledged Frog with a big smile!
The Roaring Meg section of the mighty Kawarau is graded 2-3. No experience is required but you must be able to swim, be reasonably fit and confident in water. Our team is comprised of seasoned professionals. Frogz has been running white water sledging trips from Queenstown and Wanaka since 1991.

We provide all necessary equipment:
  • 5mm full steam wetsuit, booties, helmet, life jacket and fins.

Refreshments:
  • Snacks fresh local fruit and drinks are provided after the trip.

Duration:
  • 4.5 hours return, with 1 1.5 hours on the river

Departures:
  • Twice daily October to March at 8:00am & 1:00pm
  • Once a day September, April and May at 1.00pm only

Group Size:
  • Minimum of 3 pax
  • Maximum of 40 pax in 4 groups of 10 people

Check-in:
  • Queenstown pick-ups at 39 Camp Street or at accommodation by request
  • Central Wanaka pick-ups available, please call 03 441 2318 top arrange

Restrictions:
  • Minimum age is 12 years old.
  • Moderate level of fitness and water confidence required.
  • Everyone must be able to swim.
  • All weather activity.
  • Frogz reserves the right to cancel or amend any trip due to river, road, weather, group and safety conditions.
  • Trips cancelled within 24hrs of trip departure will have NO REFUND
