what a fantastic place to stay! I would fully recommend this camp to everyone, we will definately be back to stay again sometime soon! Clean and tidy, the cabin was so spacious! Excellent facilities to entertain kids and a short walk to a gorgeous beach!
We hired a cabin and did have a very good time staying on this peacefull and small park. The beach with sealions direct next to the campsite was also beautifull!. Kitchen facilities where good. Nice trompoline for THE kids. And very friendly owner, makes this à place to return too.
A small park with provision for campers and self-contained units. We stayed in a detached 1 bedroom unit which was well-equipped, clean and comfortable, spacious enough for the 3 of us. Good facilities on site given size of park. Very friendly and helpful owner/manager. Beautiful location - great walks with some wildlife, cultural and leisure opportunities nearby. Ideal for a quiet outdoors holiday.
Beautiful spot, lovely hosts. We stayed in a 1brm unit and it was great! Plenty of room, everything we needed was provided. No mobile phone or wireless Internet coverage in the area, and no Sky TV which was a little disappointing, but they have a reasonable range of DVDs to rent for $5.
The sea lions were awesome - but quite scary! Don't get too close or they will chase you!

Room was spacious and clean. Nice to have a kitchen. Internet was available but $8/hour was a high rate. Biggest downside was having to leave the room to go outside in the rain to access a bathroom, which was shared with others. Good experience overall if you're looking for a backpacker place.
What a relaxing place to stay. The cabin was clean and warm and the facilities were also very clean.
The location was amazing as we were able to walk only a short distance to the open sea which, at high tide, looked spectacular.
We obviously thought the area was quite lovely as we got engaged here!
We had a lovely night at Newhaven, it was quiet, clean and peaceful. The cabin was warm and cosy, which was great as it was quite cold. Take care on the road to the park especially if it is raining, it can get quite slippy.
We would highly recommend the park if you want a quiet evening close to the Catlins.
We really enjoyed our stay at Newhaven Holiday Park. Clean, tidy, well laid out and excellent facilities - excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lots to see and do within minutes of the park - the Catlins would have to be the most under rated spot in the south island.
The location in the beautiful Catlins area is ideal - peaceful and remote but close enough to Owaka for supplies, and central to the many attractions in this area. Our tourist flat was beautifully fitted out, and very comfortable. The level of service was great, very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again on a return to the Catlins, and would have no hesitation to recommend to others.
This was our second visit and I'm sure we'll be back. We love the laid back relaxed feeling here. The beach is amazing and the hosts are friendly and helpful. The camp is very clean and has everything you need.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at the holiday park. I thought it was very clean all the facilities seemed quite new. The manager was really friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable and I liked that there was a garden to use and dvds for hire. We would definately stay again if returning to Owaka.
We loved Newhaven - great accommodation & facilities in a wonderful location. Walk on the beach within minutes to watch seals - within easy reach of fantastic nature & wildlife of the Catlins. Definitely one of the favourites of our 14day holiday in NZ.
We both loved our stay at Newhaven Holiday Park on Surat Bay. This was one of the highlights of our trip, especially being able to see Sea Lions only 5 minutes up the beach. The unit was bright, spacious and clean. The owners are very helpful lovely people. We would highly recomment a stay there for anyone wanting to visit the Catlins.
This park is a wee gem - beautifully clean and tidy, great facilities and what a marvellous location right by the beach. Could not fault it in any way! We had a tourist flat with bathroom and it was perfect for us. Will definitely be back.
Amazing place to stay. Cabins are very clean, as the rest of the facilities.
Walk 5 min and get to the beach where you have good chances of seeing seals resting on the sand.
We've travelled through the whole south island and all agreed to say it was the cheapest and best place to stay!
We enjoyed our night here, very good facilities, especially enjoyed the barbecue and the location. We were able to go and see a sea lion on the beach and had a quiet, interesting walk along the beach in the morning. The manager was freindly and helpful. My husband was happy to have internet access!!
Wow! A perfect location on Seurat Bay. the cabins are immaculate, as are the grounds, the owner is born and raised in the area and gave us lots of tips on local areas to visit. Thanks Lyndon for the very tasty Paua and the beautiful shells! WE will be back and stay longer. Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa from the Big Island of Hawaii!!
What a gem, very friendly, lovely small camp ground, so much nicer than the big impersonal camp grounds. Comfy beds, clean modern facilities. Will recommend to friends!
We had twin beds in the living area and a set of bunks in the bedroom. Very clean and tidy unit. The walk in shower didn't have facility for placing your towel and clothes.
The park's other facilities, kitchen, laundry, dining and TV/lounge room are clean and well appointed. There are 9 powered sites for caravans and motor homes.
The camp is situated at the end of a road so is quiet, and is on the bank of the Catlins River estuary. It is a short walk from the beach where seals, sea lions and sea birds can be observed.
My rating is 4.5.
Such a lovely place to stay with really lovely hosts. I stayed for one night but already have made another booking to go back again. The cabins are small but they are perfect if you are a light traveller. The size of the kitchen in the main building is a little small but everyone worked around each other and if you bump into someone it's a great way to start a conversation. Overall a really really lovely place.
First timers to this area - we stayed in a cabin - this provided us with what we required - the amenities were close by for my elderly father.
The cabin, was tidy, warm and just right for the 3 of us.
We particularly, enjoyed the surroundings - beach access.
We were advised regarding care, responsibility as guests to the Park.
Overall, I would use the Newhaven Camp PArkl again.

I had checked out several Motels/Holiday Parks in the area via the internet (Jason's) and seeing we had never been to that part of the country previously decided to make sure we saw everything in depth. We decided to centralise ourselves at the Newhaven Holiday Park and we were not disappointed. It was no hassle taking bedding and discovered everything else was generously provided. Whilst our cabin had no toilet or ablution facilities these facilities were a hop skip & jump away & it was no inconvenience at all, even in the middle of the night!! We thought it was an ideal set up for a couple or even a family all year round. We would highly recommend to everyone.

We only stayed for one night, but the accommodation was quite adequate.
We also stayed in the middle of winter, and the area would be lovely had the weather been a little bit warmer.
The beds were comfortable the cabin was very clean and quite new.
