Overview
The Otara Markets operates on Saturday mornings only. Stallholders are ready to sell by 6am and we close at 12 midday.
We have stalls in the car park behind the Otara Town Centre on Watford and Newbury Streets and stalls inside Te Puke o Tara Community Centre hall.
We have a wide range of clothing stalls, a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables plus yummy food including Hangi, Island doughnuts, poke, mayonnaise, chop suey, fried bread, kebabs, pork buns, sushi, Spanish donuts, souvalaki, breads and the ever popular bacon & egg and steak rolls!
Not to forget such favourites as Polynesian music and dvds, infamous t-shirts, gifts, toys, jewellery, shoes, sarongs, homemade duvet and pillows, electrical goods and more.
Plus second hand clothing, bric a brac, plants, seedlings, homemade jams, pickle, cakes and biscuits.
And of course Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Niue art and crafts including tapa, custom jewellery, head pieces and hats, pupu, korowai, kete, bone carving, pounamu, lava lava, church and designer clothing.
Some Saturdays we may have live cultural performances or bands promoting their new music CDs.
The number of stalls varies every week although on fine weather Saturdays we can have up to 280.
