  Friendly hosts,good service.

  Clean.

  Room suitable for an over night stay but no longer as very small...more like a hotel bedroom than a motel unit. Paid $15 for a 7yr old to stay.

  We really enjoyed our stay in this motel - it is a good clean room with everything you would expect. It was really well located and while not luxurious it was what it claimed, and clean and well kept. I will be going back.

  Ohakune Court Motel is an older property, however it is clean, well-maintained and in a quiet location (about 10 minutes walk to centre of town). We had a family unit, which had two seperate bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen and additional bedding / lounges in the living room. Good value for money property.

  We'll be returning to Ohakune Court Motel, for sure! Really friendly staff, great comfy stay in the king suite. Nice relaxing bubble in the hot tub, too. Excellent for relaxing some tired muscles after a day of snowboarding.

  Enjoyed the 3 night stay at Ohakune Court Motel. My partner and I stayed in Rm 19. It was very clean, modern and comfortable for NZ standards. Bed was very comfortable (lots of pillows) and the room was cozy. The oil heater kept the room warm and cozy. There weren't any drafts. The kitchenette had clean and modern utensils and kitchenware. Donald the manager was very kind and helpful. We went skiing everyday at Mount Ruapehu and Donald would keep us informed regarding the road conditions and would call up to our room to inform us. The hot tub was in good condition and Donald made sure that it was at an adequate temperature for us. They had a drying room but we did not use. The Wi-Fi was not free, however. Overall, enjoyed the stay, but would have liked to have paid a little less for the room. Would have paid $120 per night for the room. In any case, would still highly recommend the place.

  Very comfortable beds and clean unit. Good for our couple nights stay and enjoyed the lovely spa pool. Staff had put heater on prior to our arrival -very nice touch. Will definately stay again.

  Really appreciated the lovely warm room to to return to after being on the mountain all day. Very helpful staff, go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. Nice, clean units that are well equipped. with everything you could possibly need. For what yo get, the accommodation is affordable, especially if you are a family. Wholeheartedly recommend to serious skiers who want nothing but to come home to a nice warm unit and comfortable bed.

  "Costly compared to quality"

  We stayed in room #18 at Ohakune Court Motel over the first weekend in September.

  Pros:

  - The manager provided a baby cot

  - Very clean

  - Good bed

  - Nice views

  Cons:

  - They charged an extra $10 for the baby cot.

  - No sink mixers and the shower head is installed so that only very short people can get wet hair. The bathroom has been done up but only cosmetically. The old low quality components are still there. The lack of sink mixers is really annoying.

  - They state that there is central heating but there is only an electric heater

  - Even on the lowest level the fridge freezes everything

  - The bathroom window could not be closed

  Conclusion

  The price is quite steep compared to what you actually get. We will stay at another place next time we are in Ohakune.

  There were a number of good things about the hotel - great location halfway between town centers, quiet, helpful and accomodating staff, good selection of free DVD rentals, reasonable rates for self serve laundry, and a jacuzzi on the property. But room number 8 had an offensive smell, was drafty and didn't have enough hot water. Based on my stay in this room and despite some of the positive aspects of this property, I can't make a positive recommendation now. See my more expansive review in Trip Advisor.

  Was a little surprised by the exterior on arrival, it didn't look like I expected from the picture, and the building was obviously pretty old (my husband remembered staying here as a child 30+ years ago). However the units had been recently refurbished so were pretty good inside.

  The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful, and our unit was very warm and cosy, and beds were good. Nice outlook over the reserve in front, and mountain view.

  The spa pool was nice and hot but quite strongly chlorinated, we all had stinging eyes (but good to know the hygiene was taken care of). The unit was basic and lacked mod cons (like a dishwasher) and a few kitchen tools to make life easier, but was very clean and tidy.

  Worked well for our family with 2 bedrooms, it is hard to find a motel to accommodate a family with 3 kids properly these days, but this one worked well. Thought it was a bit expensive given the age and amenities, but it was peak season I guess (winter school holidays in ski season).

  We had a great stay here. Situated close to the Turoa skifield and our room had a great view of the mountain. The 2 bedroom unit was clean and warm enough for the cold winter nights. Also a very nice gesture by the staff who provided some lovely cupcakes.

  Only had a small concern with the bathroom. A lock on the bathroom door and a sink mixer, instead of separate taps, would be nice additions. Will definitely return here in the future.

  Had a good stay here, nice place very good location to Turoa. Unfortunately the mountain was closed for the other days we had looked to head up, and managemnet was very accepting of our situation.

  My partner and I stayed here over the weekend of Mardi Gras in June.

  We did enjoy our time but did feel it was expensive for what it was. I know prices get put up over Mardi Gras becasue a lot of young people stay and the risk is higher, but that's not really fair on the quiet people who won't cause any problems.

  Loved the bed and the shower was good. Felt very paranoid about making any marks on all the white linen and towels as these will be charged for if make-up marks or anything else is found on them. VERY tricky not to have any with very white bedding.

  Would recommend to others but maybe just not on loud weekends.

  The host was lovely to deal with and very helpful.

  The motel was close to town and has great view of the mountain. The room was clean and well maintained. The host was very informative and friendly. There is also a good spa pool in the courtyard which can be booked for your private use. Overall we are very happy with our stay there and will return in the future.

  Although we stayed only one night we were made to feel very welcome and staff went out of their way to provide an excellent service. The accommodation was well appointed and very comfortable. All the facilities were as stated in the advertising and the standards were high. I would certainly book again if I return to New Zealand for a holiday in the future.

  We found the reception a little off handed when comparerd to reception in other NZ motels. The room was clean and well appointed, and we did appreciate having a flat screen TV ( which has been missing in m ay other motels) and wide variety of channels to view.

  Good location and handy spot to access the national park, and also mid town eateries.

  We were very happy with the level of comfort, cleanliness and helpfulness that we experienced in our stay here... to the extent that we booked another night's stay when we returned back through Ohakune a day later. A nice touch was the free use of a large range of DVDs and videos. We would most definitely stay here again.

  It's all in the title. Great friendly, warm service. Neat, clean and quiet rooms. Conveniently located. Our room had a small kitchenette and fridge, which was very handy. Exactly what we were looking for in Ohakune. We will surely return for our next weekend trips to Tongariro or Ruapehu.

  Fantastic family friendly two bedroom units, spacious, great cooking facilities and the MOST AMAZING MT RUHAPEU outside your front door. Lovely quaint town and great food at the local. It was our favourite place throughout both islands- well done Ohakune!!

  "An inexpensive place to rest after a day in the mountains"

  We chose this motel as it was considerably cheaper than the competition for a two day break walking in the mountains. The room was basic but clean and had a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave and 2 electric hobs. The shower had plenty of hot water and worked well. We took a mountain view room on the first floor and got some fantastic views of the mountain. The owners were friendly and helpful and allowed us to connect to the internet for $10 for two days rather than the advertised $10 per day. The only real downside of the room was that it stayed pretty warm till late in the evening and we had a bit of a problem getting the door to lock.

  This was a great location for a summer break.

  We used the motel as our base for lots of short biking and walking expeditions.

  Missed having a radio in the room, but asked and a radio was provided.

  The motel proprietor was very friendly and very helpful too with useful local knowledge.

  The broadband internet didn't work at all for my computer.

  This needs to be looked into.

  The upstairs studio unit was clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom appeared new and was particularly pleasant. My only quibbles were the heating - underflow heating would have been ideal, but in its absence a fan heater is needed to warm the place quickly - and the limited availability of kitchen utensils (e.g. bowls for the microwave, cheese grater, corkscrew).

  Very clean and tidy. Older motel that has been semi-renovated. Cold, but tolerable if kept oil column heater on 24/7. Shower ran out of hot water. Spa pool was barely lukewarm and so too cold to use. Probably overpriced.

  I stayed at Ohakune Court Motel for my first time skiing. It was in a great position - a short drive to the mountain but also close enough to walk to the town of Ohakune and nearby New World supermarket. The reception was friendly and helpful and you got your own parking space. The rooms were a little basic and could maybe do with updating but they were clean and warm with electric blankets on all of the beds and central heating - very cosy. We had a cooked breakfast and borrowed dvds at night for the kids ! Would use again.

  Clean basic rooms, slightly dated. Quite a bit of road noise and the glass door in the unit let in all of the street lighting to where the kids were sleeping. Would have been to bright for me to sleep in.

  "Hmmm, mixed feelings about this one!!"

  This motel is a bit tired, but you get what you pay for I guess. It would have made a so-so list of my preferred properties if it wasn't for a horny and drunk pair of males in the communal spa pool who were obviously just in negotiation with a (still dressed) prostitute when me and my friend entered the spa pool hut to have a soak after day of skiing. Arrgh and yukk!!! Obviously out of place and unwelcome, we were told we were supposed to book the spa, which we were not told of at check in. Hot pool is definitely off at this motel, thank you.

  We also had mixed feelings about the front desk man who had some weird comments -- this was confirmed to us by another former guest we met later.

  I would not go back.

  Very pleased with the room we had. Plenty of space to drop our gear. Central heating kept the room at a great temperature. Spa pool was very relaxing after a full on day up the mountain. Full credit to the owners of this place. They have turned it into a money maker. They are friendly, have a good local knowledge & are very efficient.

  Harris chalet is one of the best in Ohakune. We were 13 people including 3 kids and loved the facilities provided by this chalet. The best thing was the Spa and enjoyed it thoroughly. The owners were very cooperative and always available to help. We would definitely go back there and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

  we arrived with three excited kids in tow for their first snow visit....plenty of room in our clean, tidy and most importantly warm 4 bed unit.Nice and close to turoa, and not too much of a hike to whakapapa either. Everything we needed and helpful accomodating staff. Nice to have a spa after a long day in the snow! not right in town but within walking distance, would definitly recommend and would stay again. its hard to find somewhere that is manageable with three kids under 9 so its lovely when you do! thanks very much!

  "Every help afforded"

  This motel is conveniently situated midway between main town with its range of cafes and bars and the upmarket area near the railway, where the mountain raod begins. We stayed here in order to ski and the owner had recommendations for cheapest ski hire. The rooms are basic but clean and perfectly adequate. Although extensive cooking is not anticipated, the owner provided extra cooking equipment to suit our needs. The boys were delighted by the large and wide-ranging video library, freely available for viewing. The hot spa (again complimentary) was enjoyed by all. The owner had further recommendations to local outdoor activities. We felt every effort had been made to made our stay a good value success.
