  • Northland is famous for its avocadoes, kumara and citrus fruits. You cannot leave with out trying a Northland grown tamarillo. They taste like summer!
  • Head to Kerikeri and visit Rewa's Village and the Ake Ake Reserve. The village is a working model of a Maori pa; the reserve shows the reinforcements taken by the tribe to ensure their safety. And it's an incredible view.
  • There are plenty of romantic spots around Northland. The glow worms at the Waipu Caves are always a beautiful site, or maybe a picnic of local delicacies at Whangarei or Haruru Falls?
  • Did you know that Ninety Mile Beach isn't? It's only 55 miles (88 km) long. It's still worth a visit though - body boarding down the giant dunes or driving along the beach is a must do!
