"Clean, comfortable accommodation close to the mountain" This was given a review of 4 stars (Good)

My partner and I stayed here for skiing Whakapapa last week for the first time, and we're going back to stay again this weekend. We found them on Jasons but had to call to make a booking.

Discovery Lodge isn't "new," but it's well taken care of. The rooms seem to have been updated recently, and the studio motel room we stayed was well above our expectation. It was warm, clean and comfortable, with a huge picture window and a great view of the national park. You can tell the owners take pride in providing a good experience for their guests. It's got a wide variety of room types and options, though we only tried the one.

The only small criticism we had was the bathroom in the ensuite. The shower is not luxury, but without a doubt it's clean. The water pressure left something to be desired, but the water was good and hot, so we could overlook that small imperfection. What can you expect from a place out in the middle of the desert? They probably have a well or tank water. Just don't expect a soak in the bath after you come down from the mountain, and you'll be good with this place.
