    "Overpriced for what is offered"

While the facilities were clean, having to pay a dollar for each timed five minute shower on top of a $52.00 daily charge for a powered campsite was a bit much.

The views from the beachfront campsite were impressive, with

a view right across the bay to the port and township.

What was not so nice was the attitude of the manager upon our arrival.

He studiously ignored us as we waited at the front desk, and when he finally acknowledged us, it was to berate my wife and I for turning up too early (12.05pm) as he was busy serving lunch. Not exactly the feel good factor.

Overall the stay was ok but in my opinion, overpriced for the facilities and I would consider other options.

    "stay in your cabin"

The cabin was tidy and clean and in reasonable proximity to places to eat and visit. We had a good nights sleep without street noise which was very good.

I would rate the park at a 4

    "Beautiful location"

By far the prettiest holiday park we have visited. Small but not cramped and our tent site felt very private and sheltered. I would recommend this park to anyone visiting the area. It's 20mins to Waikatipi beach - an absolute secret hideaway! And only 10mins from Napier centre.

Friendly staff and facilities very clean. Great food from the on-site cafe too.

    "Not the best"

Hi there, I have had my husband complain about this camp the entire trip after we were there. We stayed at Top Tens which were fantastic. This was sadly lacking at Napier Beach kiwi holiday park. The mens bathroom at 2 pm was not cleaned with a fire of toilet paper had been lit and left. The lounge room had a pile of toe nail clippings in the corner and stunk of smoke. The gardens were unkempt and under the trampoline was not mowed or whippied. The sand pit was more lawn than sand. Then they wanted money for showers. You got to be joking!! Having stayed in all types of Holiday parks and camp grounds through out NZ and Australia this was the worst!!

Hi there, It would be so easy to go to the reception and tell us about a fire in the toilet. We cleaned the facilities around 11.00am. Unfortunately we discovered the described problems at 2.30pm, and we have taken prompt actions! It would be great if we can control our guests but the reality is that some people are having different standards than others. Yes you caught us with the weed but on the day of your stay you must have noticed that we were working on the play area. Regarding the shower money, yes it cost a $1 and we are always upfront with this. The good thing is that you paid $25 less with us then your described other park.

    "Great Camp"

We rated this camp 4 out of 5. We set up our tent for the week in January. This camp is in a great location by the beach, and straight out the gate onto the cycle trail. The cafe on-site is very convenient too. The bathroom seems small, but seems to manage the crowds OK, and the showers are great. Kitchen is also a bit small and crowded, but once again seems to work OK.Lack of fridge space was very disappointing. We raised this problem with the camp managers who initially were not very sympathetic. However, to their credit, they found an extra fridge next day and the problem was solved. Thanks heaps. Our suggestions for improvements. 1. Bigger fridges. 2. Some more power points in the kitchen and lounge for people to recharge their mobile phones. We found that these were all in use, and occasionally we found the freezer unplugged and a phone charger plugged in instead.

Not too far from the city and on the water's edge which will suit many people and not others. Tidy, busy but quiet camp.

    "Great holiday!"

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it very much. all facilities were clean and well organised BUT the only thing that let us down was the internet (wifi) . I was told it was fast internet when i purchased the 1 week wifi but at times it was really slow and we had to cancel our movie night as the internet was not working. fix that issue and everythings well. thanks.

    "Holiday park"

We enjoyed the camp very much and had everything that we needed. One thing was that we thought that the Kitchen needed another Toaster as we had to wait so long to make some toast, and a few other campers said the same. Everything was very clean. The campsite that we were allocated was taken by another lady and she had put her tent up as she wanted to be on grass and it had a table which would have been handy. T hey only stayed the one night.

    "A welcome awaits..."

We arrived and were greeted by friendly reception staff who pointed out where the shared facilities were situated in relation to our site. We took our dog, much appreciated, and we all enjoyed our break away. The toilets / showers were very clean and warm, although a note about the five minutes shower time starting when the coin is deposited would be helpful. The first shower resulted in less than two minutes of hot water.. We found the campsite clean and tidy overall, with a close proximity to the beach. I must say, however, that I have never had so many tent pegs buckle and bend while trying to peg down the tent. A gently, gently approach worked better than hard hitting. A great break away, even in the rain and tropical storm.

    "Bay Re-View Snapped to many!!"

Spent 5 nights and didn't get given a layout map of the place so wanderd around looking for ammenitiesTold there was a walking track nearby but not given directions - then found that the back entrance to the property was in a street that eventually led to the walking track!Have to pay for hot water with a coin operated machine situated OUTSIDE the shower room. Run out of hot water - no problem, open the door covered in soap (naked) and put more coin in slot! 5 minutes that wasn't, in a shower block with insufficent room to shower and change, and only 4 showers. Long wait until late in evening. Friends booked a cabin for 5 nights but had to pay for 6 because policy of must have 3 nights following new year's eve. Never, ever again...badly ripped off. No shop to speak of, didn't sell essentials and "cafe" needs revamp of sad menu and meals. Insufficient night lighting around site.

Hi Kerry, we were sorry to read your review and hear your disappointment with your stay at our Holiday Park, and not having a chance to put it right before you left. We are very proud of the holiday park and especially our brand new cafe/reception which only opened on the 22nd December 2011. We designed our great value menu to suit guests of the holiday park to be affordable and casual, so were disappointed to hear your comments about the cafe as we have had nothing but positive feedback about it. Also if you had looked to your left as you were checking in you would have seen a small shop containing cold drinks, ice creams, milk and other essentials. If you had asked our staff to point it out to you they would have happily done so. We always have someone on reception from 8:30am - 9pm and our staff are very friendly and approachable should you have asked for directions to the pathway they would have been happy to take the time to show you & give you a pathways map. As for site maps, we do not give these to every one checking in like some other parks in a conscious effort to keep waste to a minimum instead we have road signs & signage with site numbers etc to point you in the right direction. We have a Qualmark Enviro Silver rating and this is partly because we keep water consumption down by having metred showers, and the metres allow you to put more than $1 in at a time so that you can for example pay $1.40 & get 7 minutes of shower time so that you are not restricted to 5 minutes or have to top up half way through your shower. Also our three night policy applies over Christmas and New Year, we do this so that we can give our cleaning staff these days off to spend with their families and we turn down a lot of bookings to honour this policy over these dates and this is explained at the time of booking. The site that you stayed on was a beachfront powered site overlooking the sea which is 30metres from a street light and the ablutions block is visible from the site that you stayed in.

"One night spent in a pleasant quiet surrounding"

Recently we spent a night at the Snapper Holiday Park, Self Contained Unit, Bay View, Napier.

We were in unit 9 right by the sea and it was most comfortable. With the sea view and gentle breaking of the waves not too loud. Large flat screen tv, (sky coverage would have been good)

Comfortable queen size bed and everything clean and tidy.

These units also have a small room with 3 bunk beds, which would make them good for parents with children, (older ones maybe as the top bunk was really quite high.)

They also had a coffee plunger but you must take your own ground coffee.

    Milk was provided.

We initially booked the small cabin but upgraded to the s.c.u hence price $118. Reason for this was we didn't feel like sleeping in a bunk bed even if it was a double with one above which was offered in the little tourist cabin.

"Where the hills meet the ocean"

We are from Melbourne Australia and were advised by relatives that Bay View Snapper Holiday Park is a box to tick when travelling the North Island of New Zealand.

After 10 days on a very fast paced coach trip we needed to unwind before heading back to the office. We hit the jackpot. Bay View Snapper Holiday Park is total relaxation. Take it from me the Beach Cabins are a must. You go to sleep with the sounds of the waves crashing to the shore, it is magical. The location to tourist attractions is tops.
