Overview

Lake Rotoroa Lodge is luxury accommodation in Nelson Lakes National Park in Murchison. It was named as one of the twenty five greatest adventure destinations in the world by National Geographic Adventure magazine.

It was built during the early twentieth century and has been restored over the years. It has 10 luxury guest rooms with views of the lake or mountain. Food is prepared using local ingredients and the lodge has an extensive wine cellar. Lake Rotoroa Lodge has also been named as one of the two finest trout fishing venues in the world. Fishing gear and equipment are available for hire from the lodge.

Murchison is an hour and a half drive away from Nelson and is equidistant between Nelson and the West Coast. It is known for its many rivers and its former gold mines. More than 22 rivers flow around the area and contain an abundance of trout, thus making it a great place for fly fishing. There are many scenic walks and full day treks in the Lake Rotoroa area such as the Flower's Walk and Mount Cedric.
