Overview

Located at the foot of Mount Ruapehu, Skotel Alpine Resort is an ideal base for both summer and winter activities. The stunning setting of Tongariro National Park is a fantastic backdrop for numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, skiing and kayaking. Ease those sore muscles in the resort spa pool and sauna, grab a satisfying supper from the Terrace Restaurant, and then head to the bar for a nightcap.

Skotel's accommodation options include 26 superior rooms (sleeps 1-7), 3 standard rooms (sleeps 1-2), 5 self-contained cabins (sleeps 1-6), and a backpacker wing with 12 twin/triple rooms. There is an in house restaurant, bar, spa pool, laundry, sauna, gym, lounge and ski hire.

Summer walks and transport to Tongariro Alpine Crossing can be arranged by asking the friendly resort staff. The resort is a proud member of Mainstay NZ Hotels, HANZ, and TIA. They are ranked Qualmark 3-star plus Backpackers and Qualmark 3-star Hotel.

    "Basic Accomodation" This was given a review of 3 stars (Average)

    This was rather basic accommodation compared to other motels we have stayed at. It was clean and comfortable and a bed for the night. The sound insulation could be improved. The bathroom was a challenge with the shower head jumping of it's stand. There was no kitchen facilities with the exception of a kettle. The restaurant however was a reasonable price with good proportions
