Located a spectacular 55km drive from the Lake Pukaki/State Highway 8 turn-off between Christchurch and Queenstown, the Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Village lies deep within the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and World Heritage area, surrounded by the silent splendor of the Southern Alps. The main Hermitage Hotel has a range of room types and all 162 rooms have ensuites, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV, IDD telephones and fridges. The hotel has wireless internet in all areas except the Chalets. The 32 Motel and 20 Chalet units can cater for up to five people and include ensuites, kitchens, satellite TV and IDD telephones. Motel and Chalet guests have full use of all hotel facilities including a courtesy shuttle service between their accommodation and the main hotel complex.     "Excellent hotel" This was given a review of 5 stars (Excellent)

    The Hermitage Hotel is a beautiful hotel with magnificent views all round. If possible, try to book in the main hotel. The restaurant is superb and so is the bar. Some of the hotel is being refurbished but it does not matter. Don't forget to visit the planetarium and some of its shows.

    Will definitely visit again..

    We had a lovely room with great views over Mount Cook. The room was warm, clean, spacious and comfortable. Perhaps the shower curtain could have been fresher.

    The staff were helpful and friendly . The food was good.

    We were on the 10th Floor and the view of Mt Cook was amazing. The room was of a high standard and all other facilities, restaurant, and Hilary Centre exibitions were excellent.

    Arrived late afternoon and it had been drizzling all day with low cloud. Hotel was really nice and all staff were helpful and friendly. The room was what you would expect from this type of hotel, clean and functional. Went on a walk to Kea Point before it went dark, very impressive.

    Next morning I pulled back the curtains and WOW!! The cloud had lifted and my wife and I were staring a panoramic view of snow covered mountains with Mt Cook right in the middle from our bedroom window.

    We went down to breakfast and sat next to the restaurant windows with again a magnificent view with Kea's and ducks on the lawn outside. This hotel must be in one of the best locations for atmosphere anywhere in the world, especially on a beautiful clear day. Rating 5 (The box below will not allow me to alter it)

    "Disappointment at Mount Cook" This was given a review of 1 star (Poor)

    Property was cold and the heating did not work. The toilet seat was loose and appeared to be the wrong size. Property was not as clean as expected. Although a little cheaper than the hotel itself, the chalet was definitely not up to standard.

    "The Hermitage Hotel, Mt Cook NZ" This was given a review of 3 stars (Average)

    We reserved a self contained motel studio unit. Upon entering our unit, a strong disinfectant smell made it almost impossible to stay in the unit. There was not a very nice outlook from the windows and overall it was daggy and tired looking. We phoned reception and requested a room within the hotel. The extra $49 was well worth it. Much more pleasant. Buffet dinner was very expensive. Complimentary continental buffet breakfast was OK.
