Milton Travel Guide

The small town of Milton, with a population of just 1884 people, lies on the Southern Scenic Route of the South Island - a stunning piece of New Zealand countryside. Milton is a short drive from the coast, and lies at the edge of the Otago Coast Forest. Taieri Beach is nearby and is a popular spot to relax at.

The town of Milton began to rise in the mid 1800s around industry in the area - originally, the town was centered around the flour mill. Local industry flourished over the years, and is still an important part of Milton today. Now, farming and forestry are the mainstays of the area.
