Overview

Built in 1889 as a boot store and home of Alexander McLeod, the Martinborough Connection has been beautifully restored as a boutique bed and breakfast, retaining much of its original character. The property is part of the Wairarapa Heritage Trail.

Four charming guest ensuite bedrooms, all open onto a verandah and a sunny garden area. All are queen size rooms, one of which has an additional divan.

Relax in a spacious lounge/dining room with an open fire, original native timber wall panelling and flooring and New Zealand artwork. Tea/coffee making facilities and Sky Digital TV. Enjoy a wine in the sun on the deck which opens off the lounge, or in the shade of the tortured willows on the garden swing. Scrumptious breakfast using local products such as fresh fruit (including berryfruit in season), jams, bacon and home-made bread.

Martinborough is well known for its boutique wineries, especially pinot noir, and is only one hour from Wellington. Personalised wine tours arranged. Six minute walk to shops and cafes.

There are a number of antique and arts and crafts shops within a 20-minute drive of Martinborough. Spectacular Cape Palliser coast/lighthouse/fur seal colony within a 55-minute drive. Plenty of off-street parking, internet access, phone and fax available. An ideal venue for small meetings/functions, with a large marquee available.
