Whangarei Harbour HeadsOn the southern shores of Whangarei Harbour in the beautiful Bream Bay area, Marsden Point is home to New Zealand’s only crude oil refinery, its striped tower a distinctive harbour landmark. The Marsden Point Refinery visitor centre makes an interesting stop, with a 130 square metre working scale model and an impressive 20 minute light and sound show. Photographs, records and models show the huge pipeline that stretches from Marsden Point all the way to Wiri in South Auckland
