Leithfield Beach Travel Guide

The coastal settlement of Leithfield Beach is a good place to get away from it all. Leithfield Beach has a popular camping ground and scenic walks right at hand. The beach attracts surfers during winter, when the ocean swells roll in, and the local river is also good for white-baiting. The beautiful Kowhai Walkway leads from Leithfield Beach to the village of Leithfield. This small country town is one of the oldest in North Canterbury, and its country pub, the Old Leithfield, is a great place to meet the locals.

Leithfield Beach also makes a handy base for exploring the North Canterbury region. Drive north, and you'll soon come across the amazing wildlife experience that is Kaikoura. At nearby Amberley, you'll find a par 72, 18-hole golf course, bushwalks, and arts and crafts, or sample some of the local wines of the Waipara Wine Valley.
