- Napier – Laid back Napier is Hawke’s Bay largest centre and the place to soak up the charm and elegance of the Art Deco era. Take the town’s guided Art Deco Walk, go behind the scenes with a guided tour at the famous Hawke’s Bay Earthquake of 1931, or head out of town for rafting and horse riding adventures in the countryside.
- Hastings – Discover the city’s Art Deco and Spanish Mission gems on the Heritage of Hastings Trail, enjoy the water slides at Splash Planet, join a gannet safari to Cape Kidnappers, or visit the honey centre to sample the delicious New Zealand honey.
- Havelock North – Perched at the foot of Te Mata Peak, this prosperous town has a lovely village charm, with cobbled streets and lush gardens. There are wineries, restaurants and olive groves to explore in the surrounding countryside or head out to Ocean Beach to enjoy fishing, swimming and scenic walks.
- Fine Wine, Fantastic Food – You’re in one of New Zealand’s prime wine-growing regions in Hawke’s Bay, so don’t leave without sampling the local drops. With more than 30 vineyards open to the public for wine tasting, you are bound to discover more than one favourite local tipple. Join a guided wine adventure or hire a bike and enjoy the country scenery as you cycle between the vineyards – there’s even a virtual wine tour! It’s not all liquid lunches though, as many of the vineyards offer superb restaurants and cafes so you can dine among the vines.
