Haruru Falls are just 4km west of Paihia
. These spectacular cascade falls are in a rare horseshoe shape and at night the falls are floodlit. This Waitangi River location is home to a number of accommodation options including camping.
There is a very scenic walking track linking Haruru Falls and Waitangi
along the river bank. It takes about 2 hours to walk along the river bank, through the mangroves and over board walks to
the Waitangi Treaty Grounds
and visitors centre. The walk is about 6km.
Haruru Falls Rural Centre Community profile noted that Haruru Falls is home to a regular population of 600 people which grows dramatically each summer.
