Ski & Board Hanmer Springs

Ski & Board Update

Typical Season: Late June – Mid September

High on Mount St Patrick, this ski and board area is ideal for intermediate levels. With three basins and a variety of terrain, it offers fabulous snow for those who prefer a cosier snow environment. There are ski runs and beginner's terrain, but over 60% of the mountain is graded for intermediate level.  All of the main runs are groomed, but there is plenty of virgin snow for the more adventurous to enjoy.

A Ski School runs daily and there is the ability to hire equipment on the mountain. There is also a small café.

On mountain accommodation is available in the Ski Club's two lodges. Off mountain
Hanmer Springs Ski Area is just a 40min drive from the thermal resort of Hanmer Springs, or just under 2.5hrs from Christchurch. To get there, take Clarence Valley Road out of town - it is clearly signed to Hanmer Springs Ski Area. The turn off to the ski area is at St James Station, about 10km out of town. The access road is a narrow gravel road with a few tight corners - make sure you carry chains. The parking area is just below the Lodges.

Operated by volunteers from the Amuri Ski Club, Hanmer Springs Ski Area offers day passes to the general public. Season Passes are only available to club members  with Household, Senior and Junior rates available.
