    "Family Friendly"

Sails Motor Inn is a good destination for young family's, while the decor is showing its age/ wear - you get a clean, safe unit, close to the shops/ river, the staff are very accommodating/ go the extra mile to ask if there is anything else required.

3 from 5 really doesn't reflect how happy we were with our stay, if things were modernized a little bit more inside it would be an easy 4.

    "Value for money"

We try to stay at Sails whenever we visit Hamilton. It is well situated, reasonably priced and the units are clean and well equipped. The people we have dealt with there have always been friendly and welcoming. This last stay was no exception.

Conveniently located for CBD -within walking distance. Clean and tidy room although a little worn and some areas in need of decoration and repair. Friendly and helpful reception.

    "disappointed"

I cannot really comment on the property itself but I found the owner's attitude disappointing. I was brought under the impression (not by the owner I must stress) that the motel was close to Braemar Hospital, and I booked on that basis. My husband had been brought through from Auckland Hospital on Wed 10/09/14 afternoon to undergo a complex and difficult cardiac procedure only done at Braemar. The operation was the culmination of a very difficult period for us both and I was very stressed. The operation itself was on Wed evening at 6pm and I knew that he would probably be in theatre for a long time, and then in critical care. I needed to be very close. When I arrived at the motel at about 3 there was a sign to say that the office was unmanned and there was a MOB number to phone. I arrived within an hour of the time I had indicated. I was rather thrown by this but the owner arrived soon afterwards. He showed me my room up a number of stairs and made no attempt to help me with the luggage even though it was apparent that it was quite heavy. I expressed my concern about the distance to the hospital to the owner who noted that it was only 10 minutes. I had found the drive from the hospital to be more in the line of 15 minutes but that might have been because I don't know Hamilton well. I explained why I was concerned but he made it clear that it wasn't his problem. After discussing the matter with family I took the bags back to the car and returned the key. At no stage did I ask for a refund. The owner was rude and unpleasant, assured me I wouldn't get a refund and kept repeating that it wasn't his fault the motel wasn't next to the hospital. I then said that I hadn't asked for my money back and that a little sympathy would be rather nice. I think he replied with something along the lines of "whatever". I cannot complain about the amenities as I didn't use them but the owner's attitude towards his guests is unfortunate.

This booking was made on the internet and if the lady had of wanted to stay near the hospital which I can understand why did she not look for a motel close to hospital .There are three within 5 minutes walking distance another 4 within 2 minutes drive Most motels on the web have location maps and obviously she did not know Hamilton very well and that Ulster Street is not near the hospital

This response has been made by the operator and is not the opinion of Jasons (2013) Ltd.

    "Good value!"

This was the 3rd accommodation we stayed in during our 6 day road trip round part of the North Island and represented really good value for money particularly as was fully self contained! Room was very spacious, but only 1 bedside table so had to use chair instead. A small desk would also have been useful as there was plenty of room for one. Overall very clean and manager very helpful. Loved the Hamilton Gardens - a must see when visiting Hamilton.
