Greytown is Wairarapa's oldest settlement, has retained its delightful colonial character over the years; its streets graced with fine wooden Victorian buildings and beautiful tree-filled gardens. Greytown's cafés and craft shops make it a popular stopover, especially with weekend visitors from Wellington. The vineyards of Martinborough are an easy drive from Greytown, as is the scenic Waiohine Gorge in the foothills of the Tararua Ranges.
