Great place to stay if need an overnight stop. My partner and I were stopping over in Greymouth on our trip around NZ. Motel was clean and tidy and room was adequate for what we needed. Was handy to the state highway (on it!) and close to eating places. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Would recommend for an overnight stop.
For a one night stay in Greymouth we found this to be good value for money ($89 AUD). It was nothing special, but was comfortable with two separate chairs to sit in, a fairly modern TV, the room was clean and the hosts were friendly and helpful. Whilst i did cook in other accommodation while we were away, I probably wouldn't have wanted to cook here. We would stay here again.
This accommodation was first class. Top class appointments and friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend this motel.

We were a group of 6 (4 adults & 2 teenagers) and stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. Very firendly staff on arrival, full of information on the area, things to do, milk for coffee etc. Apartment very clean, good size kitchen and easy to prepare meals.
Would definitely reccommend to anyone!
Very friendly and efficient hosts. Really impressed by cleanliness and tidiness of our Studio Unit. Compact but very comfortable and had all that we required for our stay.
Stayed in 2 bedroom upstairs unit. Very clean, tidy and quiet. Place is about 20 minutes walk into town or a very cheap taxi ride.
quiet room even though was on main thoroughfare road. nice room decor, shower/bathroom/kitchen only average condition. Bed hard but woke up with no aches so must have been alright to sleep on.

We have stayed at the Aachen motel a couple of times prior to our last visit. When we received the booking confirmation it stated.....super suite with kitchenette..... We were most disappointed when we checked in to find that we had been allocated a studio unit! The bed was so close to the window, it was very cold sleeping at night. The confirmation notice also mentioned a desk............not sure where that could have been hiding!!! We also would not accept that a microwave equates to a kitchenett!!!!! Mike did complain when we left and the man was really non-committal except to say why didn't we complain when we arrived. It was actually past 9 o'clock when we did check in and with all the stress we are under with the continuing after shocks in Christchurch and lack of sleep all we wanted to do was get to bed and get some rest. Mike also though $175 a night was very expensive for a studio apartment.
It has certainly put us off staying at the Aachen motel and, of course, if Christchurch people want us to recommend a motel, we couldn't in all honest recommend the Aachen.
The room was clean but again the bed wasn't made on the Saturday when we were at the Shantytown art exhibition for a few hours and the dishes were not done. We have never struck this before in any mote/hotel we have stayed at.
I rate it a 5 for the value.
Easy to find, close to a pub and restaurant, and a great reception and accomodation...what more could a weary traveller want.
Owners are very welcoming on the phone and in person. The actual unit was well laid out and equipped. Appreciated the choc treats waiting for us and plenty of towels. Great off street parking.

We only stayed one night but accomadation was excellent. Very welcoming and plenty of helpful tips for places to visit.
Unfortunately we didn't get to stay at Aachen Place even though we had a confirmed booking through Jasons.Some sixth sense told me to check my booking by phone the following week and I was devastated to hear I had in fact no booking because the proprietor had forgotten to update the system.I was told they were booked out year to year for this particular weekend so dont really understand why the information was not in the system.Thank goodness I had not left this unchecked and was able to book alternative accommodation for a very busy weekend.Need to be more professional Aachen!
our unit had been renovated to a high standard; while relatively compact it was comfortable clean and convenient.Manager was helpful gave good advice when asked for information. We had a continental breakfast reasonable price and perfect start for the road. Would stay there again.
We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms and loved it.
The receptionist was friendly and we enjoyed our meal at the Recreation Hotel she suggested.
It might look a little plain on the outside but it had everything we needed, including plunger coffee.
The motel is handy to the city centre, the owners are very friendly and helpful. I will be using the Aachen Motels again next time I stay over on the Coast.
