Friendly reception, hassle free booking in. Room area more than adequate, bathroom excellent. Great view and balcony. Plenty of room and well specified. Was a wee bit noisy with my room being right on corner almost but didn't cause me to lose any sleeep really. Most CBD locations will have some noise on a Fridfay night sataurday morning with the odd reveller heading home. I highly recommend the Senator and would have no hesitation staying there again.
Really enjoyed my time at the senator, the rooms were awesome. Service was also excellent, cleaners did a good job while we were out of our rooms. The only complaint i have was the cleaners leaving the door to the deck and the windows open after they finished cleaning the rooms. Rating 4/5
We value guest feedback as it helps to improve ongoing excellence in the service we provide, so thank you for your comments. Also apologies from managment for the upstairs balcony sliding door being left open and have spoken with the staff member concerned. Our housekeepers work to a high standard, which includes cleaning according to the situation/s ie sight, touch or smell. She explained that the unit had an unpleasant odour on entering with a large amount of dirty dishes left on bench each day, and needed to open the balcony doors for fresh air to enter the room. Many guests in the upstairs units leave their sliding doors open for fresh air as they know they are safe to do so. She acknowledges she obviously forgot to close the balcony doors when finished servicing for that particular day, sincerely apologises for that, and will ensure it does not happen again. As for the windows, they are opened up, except when cold or wet. This allows for air flow and helps to keep room fresh. Like many motels, all our windows are securely and permanently fastened with 'restrictor stays' making them safe enough to be left open to a maximum of 12 cm. Great location - walking distance to town centre
Very clean and well presented, management were very helpful to individual needs
I appreciate your comments and am very pleased that we were able to offer you a positive experience. Thank you very much. Management
Was just for one night but suited us admirably and was close to town and the picturesque wharf activities. Would have liked to have had the time to enjoy the morning sun on the balcony but had other commitments
The Senator was great , lovely spacious unit, very clean, gorgeous view and the staff were extremely helpful.
Unfortunately they did not receive my booking through this site (Jasons) and were not expecting me.
Fortunately, they were amazing and found me a unit without any fuss (the 2nd to last available) and charged me less than this site quoted!
I would definitely stay at the Senator again but would be unlikely to book through Jasons (sorry, not sure what happened there!) 5*
Im on the road offten with my job. this was my frist time staying at the Senator Motor Inn. was so impressed. That im now makeing this my frist choice when staying in Gisborne. Going to make a monthly standed booking! Top service
Great accom, clean, tidy, well laid out with a great view
thxs v much
The Senator is adequate without being in any way outstanding. Its position on the inner harbour is probably its best feature and there is minimal traffic noise. The furniture is somewhat "dated" and would benefit from a refit. I consider $165/night to be too high for what was provided.
Senator Motor Inn is a fine motel in the town Gisborne. The welcome was very nice. The room we had was on the groundfloor and there was a veranda to sit with chairs and a table. The bathroom was fine and clean. We stayed here only one night but is was for us a perfect stay.
We found the Senator Motor Inn to be clean, and in a good location. Rooms were furnished to a high standard, and the unit overlooks the marina adjacent to the port.
Price was competitive, and we would stay there again.
While nightlife in Gisborne on a Tuesday was almost nonexistent, the beach and hill scenery was perfect for an evening jog, and the Senator was a brilliant place to base ourselves. Modern, clean, well-equipped, spacious, friendly staff, harbour views, off-street parking, and a reasonable price. As restaurants seemed to require getting in before 8, we ended up eating takeaway on the balcony, and the kitchenette had everything we needed to serve up a feast.
I would recommend the Senator Motor Inn. Room overlooking river and harbour was a delight, so relaxing after a long journey. Staff were so helpful and met all our requirements. If you are looking for a place to enjoy then I would suggest you make a booking at the Senator Motor Inn.
Excellent rating.
The facilities are very good and modern. Excellent layout and space. The location is probably the best in Gisborne overlooking the marina with lots of activity to keep you occupied. The owners provide an excellent service and make the effort to ensure your stay is memorable.
