Great place to stay, nice well equipt big studio. Friendly staff. Wainui beach itself is an awesome spot to wind down and enjoy a classic kiwi beach
we had an excellent stay at the lodge rooms where great cleaned nicely only problem the weather was bad,but thats winter

Not as close to the beach as you would think. We actually suspected the photo showing units withe the water so close may have been photoshopped as we couldn't see anything like that. Other than that all ok, clean and tidy. Rooms aren't a little clinical, some soft furnishing or artwork would make it nicer.
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with Ocean Beach. We know the weather was not great while you were here so aren't sure if you walked down to the beach or not but it is actually less than 150m from us but cannot be seen from the units. We can assure you that the photos on our website have not been photoshopped, the one you are referring to with the water in the background is actually taken from the hill on the property opposite us and is a true reflection of how close we are to Wainui Beach. One of our best stops whilst travelling on the north island. Value for money with an enormous amount of room to move and relax in, with a great outdoor area as well. Friendly and helpful staff.
Units were spacious, very clean, nicely furnished and well equipped.
The gentleman at Reception was very approaching and obliging. Will definitely stay there again should I be passing through Gisborne.
Great location too, nice Dairy/Cafe across the road and only a 2 minute walk to a lovely beach. Great for the family
I resently stayed at the Ocean Beach Motor Lodge and restaurant with my son for a quick visit in Gisborne. We had driven from just north of Christchurch to Gisborne in one day so we were definatly looking forward to a good place to stay. It was one of the best places I have stayed at, very clean and modern. lots of room and great beds to sleep in, usually they are not in most places but here they are great. The owners were away the night I stayed and the person they had there was awsome, she was very helpful regardless. thankyou I will definatly be back when Im in Gisborne.
