suggest relocate dump-point - it stinks up the area around it
This is the 5th time I've stayed here, everything from onsite caravan to a motel unit and this time a cabin. It's too good to even think about trying somewhere else.
We stayed in a studio unit, motel style, beside the Leith Stream which was economical comfortable, clean and convenient. High quality accommodation just outside of town and very quiet. Enjoyed the company of camper vanners on the same park like property among trees and picnic tables.
This is the 2nd time I have stayed at Leith Valley Touring Park and I highly recommend any one seeking a relaxing place to stay this is the right choice. Their friendly staff went out off their way to assist us. There is a happy community feel among all. I will visit again.
What a wonderful place to stay with the cabins well set up and very accomadating and clean facilities. super low prices for everyone on a budget. only regret is we didn't stay for longer. Will definatly be back again in the future. thanks
Lovely and clean facilities. Plenty of shared room in the small grounds. Nice playground for kids. Tourist flats are minimally equipped but nice and clean. Friendly staff.
Lovely unit next to the river. Very clean facilities. Convenient to town by car. Tea and coffee in the room would have made this stay 100% spot on
We stayed in one of the Motel-style units attached to the reception building. The price was reasonable, the unit had everything we expected, beds were comfortable, everything was clean. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, no traffic noise, with a small stream running along the back of the units. Quick, easy access by car to the city, for the event we were attending. Very acceptable option.
The location is superb, amongst beautiful bush surroundings, bird life, bush walks or just a quiet sit by the stream. The amenities are great, tourist cabins comfortable and affordable. Close to city and stadium.
We couldn't believe our luck with this place, the standard was way above the price we paid, excellent value for money especially around World Cup time. We rented one of the units and loved it, only wished we could have stayed longer! Lindy at reception was lovely and did her utmost to find us further accommodation for the night of the Ireland v Italy match. Would thoroughly recommend Leith Valley Touring Park and may be back myself sometime :-)
Great holiday park with really good facilities.
Great
have stayed twice with Leith valley and enjoy the peaceful, tranquil setting. we love the fact that we can stay with our dogs and we appreciate the effort they put into the cleanliness of the facilities. always a pleasure staying at Leith Valley
The staff were very helpful when I wanted to change my accomodation and the self contained cabin was lovely and warm great stay would recommend them to my friends and family.
My mother, daughter (18mths) and i stayed there 2 nites, we were blown away by the clean, tidy and friendly facillities, cabin had everything we needed, lounge and kitchen where warm and had heaps of utensils, lots of entertainment for all ages including 50 channels on sky in a comfortable tv lounge. far outweighted our expectations compared to other camping grounds we will be back, thank you to owners for creating a homely atmosphere for people away from home!
Nice quiet location with river walks right outside front door. Close to uni and botanic gardens. Motel units well set up for families. Would definately stay there again.
Coming from Christchurch we found the accomondation very easy to access in a nice quite valley. The owners very helpful especially with instructions to various attractions and were given an excellent map. Getting around Dunedin from the camping ground was very straight forward and only minutes into CBD. The studio accomondation was clean and tidy with two bunks and a double bed, kitchen, TV (sky), dining table chairs and couch, with an excellent shower and bathroom facilities. It was a bit cold at the time and would love to have had a electric blanket on the double bed. You will need to take sleeping bags for the bunks and some extra towels but there was extra duvets if needed. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone!
I like the place as it is not only close to city centre but the facilities and hospitality are most welcome. Keep a good tract record for the long future.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Leith Valley Park, and due to the snow storm on trhe weekend we were there we were unable to leave on the Monday morning. The park staff were most helpful, and we were able to rent our unit for another night. We are most happy to recomend the Leith Valley touring Park, our unit was clean and comfortable, great staff, friendly and helpful. Garry and Colleen Hill.
The facilities ie. TV room, communal lounge etc were fantastic with everything you would want and then some including a pool table, table tennis, and a arcade game. Unfortunately the heating in the lounge was on a timer and it was too cold to spend long in there.
The outside play area was great for the kids and they really enjoyed the small trampoline.
The only real downside to our night here was the fold out couch in the living area of our self contained unit. Due to our numbers we needed to use it but found it to be very very hard and uncomfortable with a barely there mattress on it. Also, there wasn't really enough room in the unit to fold it out and be able to move around it easily.
Overall, a good place to stay, however wouldn't book there again if it meant using the fold out couch!
We stayed at Leith Valley during Easter 2011. It had all the facilities that we needed and was kept in a tidy and clean condition. Our campervan had an easily accessible site with plenty of space. Being just over 2km from the CBD meant we could stroll in for shopping and sight seeing. Good access to walking tracks from the park as well. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to other travellers.
Having travelled in great weather around the bottom of South Island, we struck frost the day before getting to Dunedin. So I decided to see if we could upgrade our standard cabins to self-contained ones. Receptionist was most helpful, friendly and obliging and with some juggling, was able to accomodate our request. My wife and I stayed in a delightful new studio unit (complete with dishwasher) which was just ideal, as was the unit provided for my son and his family. No problems with lack of hot water, or early morning trips to the toilet block in the cold.
We didn't get to use them, but there were a billiard table and Table Tennis table in the huge lounge, also a number of books to borrow, and a log burner to keep it all cosy.
In all, excellent facilities, great staff - made for a really enjoyable stay .
Loved the location. It's tucked away in a beautiful setting and within walking distance to the CBD. Some tracks nearby are good for exploring, too.The cabin we stayed in was very clean, comfortable and cosy. I would go back in an instant. Great value.
well i think this place is nice and has good sourandings but the only bad thing was the size of the cabin we were in. i would rate a 4 out of 5 because of the size of the cabin but the staff were nice and helpful and had good communication skills. you will enjoy your stay here so have fun here
I always stay at Leith Valley when I go to Dunedin (at least once a year for Fashion Weekend and usually another time as well) , and it is always the same high standard. Clean, reasonable, quiet, well-run and very friendly. The standard has been maintained for the last 10 years, I started staying there in 2001.
Although a compact site compared to some others, this still has everything including indoor table tennis and an internet room. Very pleasantly surprised for a site so close to the City Centre.
Lovely quiet spot & good value for money
On arrival we found that we had been short booked by one night, and Dunedin was full up. (Rugby game on). However, after a few telephone calls, Park Management found us a very nice place to stay out at portobello for one night and also discounted our remaining two night stay. MIstakes can happen but it's the putting right that counts and in our opinion Leith valley Touring Park looked after us very well. Thank you. Can also highly recommend the park, it is delightful, nice and quiet but still convenient to the city. The accomodation was excellent and great value too.
The park was located a little distance out of the centre of the cbd which made it very quiet and relaxing, It had a very spacious room and very clean. Very helpful staff - even delivered copies of the paper for events we may have been interested in. Would recommend this park.
Very comfortable, clean and conveniently close to town. We stayed in a self-contained, Lockwood-style unit that was clean and well equipped, although it would have been handy to have a stove top. The Freeview TV receiver played up while we were watching the Christchurch earthquake news and the staff were quick to offer the use of their own TV - very accomodating.
I would happily recommend staying at Leith Valley Touring Park and I'm sure we'll be back there next time we're in Dunedin.
Very clean and well equipped, good location to shops but yet not in city, natural surrounding a wonderful boost to ambience, very friendly and warm operators
Quiet place, facilities clean and tidy. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
All in all we had a very pleasant stay.
Leith valley Touring Park is in a convenient location to the city of Dunedin it is a important city for students one fifth of the population being students. We stayed in a self contained cabin which was brand new very clean and everything for our comfort. There was also camping facilities. Nearby is the Otago peninsular which is about sixty three kilometres round trip were you can see penguins and albatrosses far away from the hustle and bustle of the city .The peninsular is only ten minutes drive from the park.
Facilities clean and tidy. Satff friendly and helpful.
The price of the cabin was very reasonable. The only thing wrong with it was that it only had a couple of hooks on the walls to put clothes on. Other cabins we have stayed in have had shelves or a wall rack to hang clothes on. Also they didn't supply any pots and pans and cooking utensils in the cabin although there were some in the communal kitchen but they were quite old and worn.
A spa pool would be great at the camping ground as we found Dunedin cold while we were there. There is a sauna that will sit up to two people but you have to pay $10 for 30 minutes.
Quite, clean, freindly, and very pretty.
would love to go back if ever visting NZ.
lovely quiet site, had a great time
For $53 per night you wouldn't usually expect to get much. However at Leith Valley Touring Park you can stay in elegant simplicity. With a TV, kettle, toaster, comfortable bed and table in the room and beautifully kept bathroom, kitchen, movie room and lounge just a short stroll away you could easily be fooled into thinking you were staying in a resort. We certainly enjoyed our time a Leith Valley and would recommend it highly to others.
We really enjoyed our stay at Leith Valley Touring Park. The accommodation was great, clean, had good facilities and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We especially thought the communal facilities were excellent. Very clean kitchen and amazing dining area and TV viewing area.
Quiet, clean and tidy, well appointed, and very comfortable bed. Would recommend to others. Adjacent walking tracks a welcome bonus.
very nice site thanks
Love our stays at Leith Valley Touring park, so friendly, clean and central. Brilliant value. We'll be back.
After that title I don't need to say much more really. We stayed in one of the motel type units that they have to offer, was brilliant. The facilities both in our unit and available in the communal area were of a high standard and the staff were more than helpful in every way, and also knew a lot about the local area and were full of some good local knowledge.
Would have no problems recommending them to anyone. Go and enjoy your stay, I'll guarantee it.
This is a lovely little holiday park with beautiful bush and stream surrounds but still very convenient to city centre. Motel units superbly clean and comfortable and very good value for money. Excellent facilities and a really nice atmosphere.
We enjoyed a peaceful evening at Leith Valley Touring Park recently. The property is tidy and well appointed, with a warm welcome, helpful advice and a nice atmosphere. The cabin was comfortable and handy to the ammenities. We would, and have already recommended Leith Valley to others for comfort, location and value.
Comfortable rooms, very friendly hosts, great walks around the property, close to the gardens with easy access to the rest of Dunedin. Good shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Even a friendly cat!
We stayed at Leith Valley for one night in a motel room because of it's close proximity to Dunedin City Centre. When we checked in the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy and included everything we needed for our short stay. The shower was lovely - I didn't want to get out! Electric blankets on the beds ensured we stayed warm and toasty all night even when the temp plummeted outside. I'll definitely return to Leith Valley again should I need to stay in Dunedin.
Tourist flat was really nice, had everything we needed!
We didn't have a car though, so took us AGES to get into the town centre though.
But the staff were really friendly and helpful! If I had a vehicle, I'd definately go back!!
We were after cheap accomadation but didn't want to share our room with others, so booked one of Leith Valley's cabins. It was perfect! Just enough room for the double bed, a wee table and chairs and a tv. It had a heater which was needed as it was the middle of winter, and the facilities were top-notch. Really clean, with friendly hosts, and at a great price. Will happily stay there again!
Great tranquil location, very-well maintained and managed, excellent service. We enjoy coming back here again and again - despite there are other places. Great to see who they are trying to put their best efforts towards environmental sustainability e.g. cutting electricity costs etc.
Rating: 5
Great stay in a lovely spot recommend to others for a cozy clean haven close to city with some great natural experiances for those who like to walk....we saw the glow worms at 4.00am just 10 minutes from camp
