Overview

Located 3km north of Coromandel town, just up Driving Creek Road (signposted). The 1-hour train ride up the mountain railway is suitable for all ages and abilities. Amazing views from the top. See great engineering and replanted kauri forest. Also working potteries, ceramic sculpture, crafts, souvenirs and bookshop. Mini-bricks for kids of all ages. Native wildlife sanctuary walks. Trains run every day except Christmas Day and Anzac morning. Train bookings essential over summer. Ample public facilities.
