  • Otago Central Rail Trail
    The town is the starting point (or ending) for the popular Rail Trail, which travels through the magnificent Central Otago landscape. There are guided tour options, or you can cycle, walk or go by horseback.
  • Sunderland Historic Precinct 
    This delightful precinct has some wonderful historic buildings, many of which have been beautifully restored and now house characterful restaurants and cafes. You can take a tour of the town and discover the history behind the buildings, which include the church, Hartley Arms Hotel, Dunstan House, Dunstan Times Building, and the Clyde Railway Station.
  • Clyde Dam
    A kilometre north of town, the dam is widely held to be an engineering marvel, with special 'slip joints' that allow it to withstand tremors. A free hour-long tour departs from the Dunstan Information Centre. Bookings are essential.
  • Clyde Lookout Walk
    This popular walk takes in the historic township, Clutha River and Clyde's awesome hydro electric dam, offering superb views over the town and dam.
  • Clyde Wine and Food Festival
    The town's annual wine and food festival is held every year on Easter Sunday, drawing the crowds with a line-up of live music, and delicious local food, wine and gourmet produce.
  • Lake Dunstan
    Created for the controversial Clyde power project, today the lake provides a lovely spot for fishing, rowing and boating.
  • Wineries
    Clyde is surrounded by one of the best winemaking regions in the country. Burgundy grapes thrive here in a near perfect climate, and local vineyards have produced award winning Pinot Noir. You can take a wine trail from the town.
  • Clyde Museum
    Check out the museum to learn more about the history of Clyde. There are articles, books, church records and photographs for you to browse through. The Briar herb factory museum shows the factory and machinery as it was. There is a blacksmith, horse drawn vehicles and various pieces of equipment on display. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 2-4 pm, or by arrangement.
  • Clyde Station Museum
    Formerly the Clyde Railway Station, the building now houses a collection of vinatge locomotives. Open weekends, 2-4pm.
  • Orchards
    Take an orchard tour and sample some of the locally grown stone fruit in season.
  • Outdoor Adventure
    The town is well placed to enjoy the great Central Otago outdoors, and you can go horse riding, trail biking and hunting, or enjoy the fishing and swimming in the region's lakes and rivers.
