    "Great central location but poor service" This was given a review of 1 star (Poor)

    My friend and I chose this property for the price and location, and also because I had previously stayed at the Rotorua Ibis and found it to be outstanding. I am not sure if it was because of the big earthquake 2 weeks prior, but my stay at this hotel left a sour taste in my mouth. On arrival after a late night flight, we were greeted with a sour trainee receptionist who informed us that we needed to present them with the credit card used on booking incase of damage to room etc. I handed over my Debitplus Visa which I used to book and also which had been fine at Rotorua, only to be told it had to be a CREDIT Visa. Subsequently we had to had over ALL our spending money for the week as a deposit, to be return on checkout. We then went to the room which, might I add, was not what we had booked but they wouldn't move us!!!! Customer service is severely lacking!!! Also when we were packing to leave I noticed the carpet under the bed had rubbish and what appeared to be a part of a sex toy covered in about a centimetre of dust. Not a big job to clean we thought considering the beds were on wheels!!!! Christchurch is a lovely city and I will be back there in a heartbeat, but certainly not at the Ibis.
