Overview
Designer Cottage was a sailors' retreat in the 70s and is located in peaceful surroundings just off Colombo Street near the shops and opposite Sydenham Park. The short walk to the city centre from the cottage will give you the chance to admire many listed heritage buildings on Colombo Street.
We offer a variety of tastefully decorated rooms (either share facilities, private room with ensuite or charming private self-contained cottage). Children and dinner can be catered for by arrangement.

This cosy c1900 workingman's cottage has been restored to its original charm. It features 2 tastefully decorated double bedrooms, open plan kitchen and living room with newly installed heat pump/air conditioning, also a sunny private back garden with kiwifruit and grape vines. This retreat is suitable for singles, couples or a family who love their privacy and also enjoy the ultimate heritage experience.
Your friendly host, Chet, has an honours degree in Landscape Architecture and is passionate about traditional buildings and his landscaping ideas. Designer Cottage is one of his finest collections of the charms of yesteryear and all guests are welcome to view the 'Designer Village' and hear his stories about the cottage.
