Carolyn Nicholas moved to Paihia 14 years ago from Howick in
Auckland. On arrival to the Bay of Islands she and her husband completed their first house and then built Waiora apartments as an investment on their 12 acres of land.
They landscaped and planted 120 Olive trees (with a yield 25-80 litres of olive oil a year) learned about beekeeping, (4 beehives with a yield 160 kg of honey this year) and established an orchard which keeps them in fruit all year round.

Walking to the Treaty grounds along the Waitangi waterfront, stopping for a coffee at Waikokapu cafe and then returning home after a relaxing day.

Sailing anywhere among the bays.

Go visit the Haruru Falls walking track for a great walk with beautiful scenery. Then take a dip in the water afterwards – don’t forget to pack your swimwear.

Drinks and dinner on the deck of Sugar Boat Restaurant in Waitangi, followed by a perfect Bay of Islands sunset.

Any of the cruises out on the bay. Fast boats or slower boats to the Hole in The Rock, an icon of Paihia and the Bay of Islands.
