There are 26 regional parks within easy reach of Auckland city: explore picturesque peninsulas, sheltered harbours, the Waitakere Ranges, farm parks and long sandy beaches. Many parks offer affordable camping facilities for tents, caravans and campervans in a range of coastal and bush locations. Ideal for those travelling in or out of Auckland or looking for a scenic escape. North of the city, choose from Tawharanui, Mahurangi, Wenderholm or Shakespear. Head west to Muriwai and the Waitakere Ranges or stop south of Auckland at Ambury (just 10km from Auckland International Airport), Omana, the Hunua Ranges, Awhitu, Tapapakanga or Waharau Regional Parks. Tariff: campsite from $3-$5/child and $5-$10/adult per night.
