Ski & Board Broken River
With uncrowded powder basisn and chutes, and a fun, friendly atmosphere, Broken River provides superb and affordable alpine adventure. Broken River is situated in the heart of the Craigieburn Range in the Southern Alps and its southeast facing aspect provides midday sun over three large open basins. The terrain is a series of rolling bowls with awesome runs to challenge all levels of snowboarders and skiers from beginner to expert. The surrounding basins provide great 'back country' terrain for off-piste adventures.
Only a short walk offers access to
Craigieburn Valley, with some incredible terrain suited to more advanced skiers and snowboarders. The combined Broken River & Craigieburn ski area covers over 900 hectares and lift passes are interchangeable between the two fields. Broken River is located a 1.5 hour drive from
Christchurch. From the ski area car park, there is a 15-20 minute walk through native forest to the
accommodation lodges. A goods lift is available to take all your gear. Ski and board hire is not available.
