Nestled in a steep, forest-clad valley, Arthur's Pass village is the main base for visitors to the rugged Arthur's Pass National Park. Located in the Southern Alps, the park's wild mountain scenery is breathtaking, with dramatic glaciers and waterfalls, and excellent hiking, walking and climbing. Arthur's Pass makes a great stopover for those travelling over the alps between Christchurch to Greymouth. The scenic Tranzalpine Express train also makes a stop here.
